Analysis and certificates
What is measured, who measures it, and how the certificate you receive connects to the vial in your hand.
What is measured
- Identity
- ESI-MS
- Electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry, compared against the theoretical mass calculated from the molecular formula.
- Purity
- RP-HPLC 214 nm
- Reverse phase HPLC with detection at 214 nm. Purity is reported as the main peak expressed as a percentage of total peak area.
- Endotoxin
- LAL
- Limulus amebocyte lysate screening, reported in endotoxin units per milligram of material.
- Appearance
- Visual
- Cake integrity and colour checked against the specification for the compound before the batch is released.
How a batch is released
- Quarantine on arrival
- Incoming material is held separately and does not enter saleable stock. Nothing is despatched from a batch that has not completed testing.
- Sample and test
- A sample goes to an analytical laboratory we do not own. Testing our own material and certifying it ourselves would make the certificate worth very little.
- Compare against specification
- Results are checked against the published specification for that compound. A batch that misses specification is not released and is not repackaged into another lot.
- Release and label
- The batch is assigned a lot code, that code is printed on every vial, and the certificate issued for the batch carries the same code.

Released lots
No lot certificates are published here yet. We publish a lot record only once the analytical laboratory has issued the certificate for that batch, so this page will stay empty rather than show a specimen or an example.
In the meantime the certificate for the batch you are sent ships with your order. If you need it in advance for a purchasing or ethics review, ask us for the current lot certificate against the catalog number and we will send it before you order.
